Frequently Asked Questions

Setup, security, billing, and troubleshooting — grouped so you can find answers fast.

Getting started

AuthenticateMe is a Discord verification service. You add our bot, configure rules in the dashboard, and new members verify before they get full server access. We handle roles, logging, threat detection, and moderation actions based on your settings.

Click Add to Discord on our site or use the invite link from the dashboard. You need Manage Server permission.

After inviting, open the dashboard, select your server, and complete setup (verified role, channel, verification mode).

It is recommended you give Administrator to the bot so it completely operates normally. The bot role must sit above your verified and unverified roles in the role list.

Yes. Watch our video tutorials, read the documentation, or ask in the support server.

Verification

Web link — member verifies on authenticateme.xyz.

Button — member clicks verify inside Discord.

Instant — checks run automatically when they join; role assigned if they pass.

Yes. Verification works on the Discord mobile app and mobile browsers. Optional settings like blocking mobile data may affect some users — that is entirely your choice in the dashboard.

You choose the action per check: deny access, kick, or ban. Failed attempts are logged to your logs channel when configured. The member receives a DM explaining the outcome when possible.

Yes. Right-click a member and use the Verify context menu, or use staff commands. Useful when DMs are closed or a legitimate user triggers a false positive.

Use the Reset verification context menu or slash command. This removes their verified role, clears their record, and puts them back through the flow if they still need access.

Security & checks

We combine device fingerprinting, browser signals, and linked account data collected during verification. If a new account matches a previously banned or flagged user, verification fails based on your rules.

Some privacy-conscious users run VPNs. If that is common in your community, you can leave VPN blocking off or use bypass sessions for trusted members. Most raid-focused servers enable it.

We store verification records and session data needed to run the service. We do not sell member data. See our Privacy Policy for details.

Every check is optional in the dashboard. Start with basic role gating and add stricter rules as your server grows.

Premium & billing

Most features are free — alt detection, VPN blocking, account age, auto-kick, and more. Premium adds ad-free verification, advanced browser checks, and priority support.

Subscribe on Patreon with the Discord account that manages your server, then link it in the dashboard if prompted.

Yes. Cancel on Patreon with no extra fees. Premium benefits stay active until the end of your billing period.

Small and mid-size communities usually do fine on free. High-traffic servers or communities hit by frequent raids benefit from Premium's ad-free flow and tighter browser checks. See the comparison on the Premium page.

Troubleshooting

Check that AuthenticateMe's role is above your verified/unverified roles and that it has Manage Roles.

If roles were deleted and recreated, update them in the dashboard.

Sessions expire after a set time. Have them rejoin or click verify again. If it persists, check status or open a support ticket.

You need Manage Server on that guild. Log in with the correct Discord account and re-authorize if your permissions changed.

Not currently. See integrations for the latest status.

Join the support server and open a ticket. Premium users get priority in the queue.
